The mission of the IINSPIRE LSAMP program is to broaden the participation of underrepresented minorities* in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education in the Midwest. The IINSPIRE LSAMP Program provides up to three terms of research funding to eligible Iowa State students. Students must have received previous research funding to be eligible for academic year funding. The following eligibility criteria will be considered when reviewing applications:
- United States citizen or permanent resident
- College GPA of 2.7 or higher
- Major in a science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) discipline – check the eligible majors
- Sophomore or Junior status or recent transfer student in the coming academic year (preferred).
- Previously funded by IINSPIRE LSAMP
- Previous fulfillment of program expectations
*Underrepresented Minorities (URM) – The following racial and ethnic groups have been shown to be underrepresented in STEM fields: Black or African American, Hispanic, Latino(a), American Indian or Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian and other Pacific Islander.
